Watercolour Resist

I do love watercolour resist and when I saw Kristina Werner's cards I had to have a play.  I used my watercolours and some Hero Arts white embossing powder.  After embossing the stamps, I wet the areas of the card I wanted to colour with a paintbrush, then added colour.

I mounted the cards onto a card base stamped with some stripes, turned diagonally

Might be nice to make a set of these cards with different sentiments, as a gift.

Dreaming of You

I took out this Simon Says Stamp and die set called Pillow Talk and decided to make a card.  I began by cutting 3 scallop circles and Washi-taping them together, before inking over them with Tumbled Glass, moving the circles down the page after each inking, to create some clouds.  I then stamped the cloud in Hero Arts Bubblegum Shadow Ink before die cutting with the matching dies.  I stamped the cat and coloured lightly with a pink Copic marker, adding some grey Promarker to 'ground' the cat, then stamped the hearts with Bubblegum also.  I added a few sequins before mounting the panel onto some pink card, then onto a white card base.

Rainbow background

I made this background by scribbling Inktense Watercolour Pencils heavily across some Easons White Wedding 300 lb card.  I then used a flat brush and water across the card - this intensifies the colour.  After stamping Hero Arts grasses in black, I put some Perfect Pearls on the craft mat and sprayed with a little water, picking up the mix with a paintbrush and splattering onto the background for some shine.

I embossed the Hero Arts sentiment onto heat resistant acetate and added it to the card together with some die cut hearts.  After adding some sequins I mounted the whole thing onto a tent fold card.

Male Birthday

I used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink on some Neenah White card and stamped on some stars from Simon Says Stamp 'Shoot for the Stars' stamp set.  I die cut some stars and added a Hero Arts sentiment.  The base card was partly stamped with an Impression Obsessions stripe stamp.

It's a Guy Thing at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

This is the first of two cards for the It's a Guy Thing challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

I used a chevron stamp from a Simon Says Stamp monthly card kit, stamped with Stormy Sky and Tumbled Glass distress inks.  The card base edges were also inked with Stormy Sky.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts and I added some buttons and string.

Inky Backgrounds at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

I started by applying Mustard Seed and Barn Door distress  inks with a mini applicator to some Easons Wedding Card (I'm finding this card excellent for inking techniques where you are going to really wet the cardstock). I then spritzed the card heavily with water, dried with a heat gun, and dipped the card back into the ink beads on my craft mat. After drying the card again I trimmed it down and stamped the Hero Arts stamp and sentiment and mounted onto black card.  I used splatters of the same ink on the base card.

I cut 3 butterflies from black card, and added 3 butterflies cut from the trimmed piece of inked background.

Clean Slate at Virginia's View Challenge

This is my second card for Virginia's View Challenge No. 11 - Clean Slate.  I had these punched butterflies from an inked piece of leftovers from another card (tomorrow).  I added some Distress Ink splatters and a Hero Arts sentiment.

Snowing again here - perfect crafting weather!

Favourite Word for 2015 at Craft for the Craic

Over at Craft for the Craic the challenge this month is to use your favourite word for 2015 in a project.

Coming up to Christmas a lot of attention was given to the plight of homeless people and that made me grateful for what I have so I decided to do a Thankyou card.

Inspired by Jennifer McGuire's Watercolour Inlay Technique, I sponged Broken China and Evergreen Bough distress inks onto some card before spraying heavily with water. After drying the card I cut out the Marianne Designs sprig from white card which was then sponged with Worn Lipstick and peeled paint and also sprayed with water for watercolour effect. I then used the die to cut the sprig from the first piece of card, and inlaid the watercoured die cut.  Am I making sense?  Just have a look at Jennifer's video here.

I then made another card from the piece die cut out of the watercoloured card, splattering some Broken China and Evergreen Bough ink on the rectangle of card first, and adding some sequins and sparkly Stickles

Looking forward to seeing what you create this month over at Craft for the Craic
