ABC Challenge - New Year Sparkle

This week's challenge at ABC Challenges is 'New Year Sparkle' so show us anything sparkly or shimmery - glitters, embossing powders, gems, metallic paper etc.

For my card I silver embossed a Hero Arts stamp then used a butterfly from a Hero Arts stamp and die set, coloured with Spectrum Noirs and glittered.  I added some pretty blue sparkly brads I've had for ages.

Thankyou all for your visits and comments this year, they really make my day and have a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Masked Bauble

Jennifer's card on the Hero Arts blog yesterday inspired me to have a go at masking, using a Spellbinders die to cut the mask and Hero Arts Magicl Background for the swirls.  I inked through the mask with Evergreen Bough, using masking again for a strip of Evergreen Bough down the left hand side and to create the 'string' for the bauble.  I cut a portion off the right hand side of the card and used scraps of Aspen Frost papers on the inside of the card.  I then placed a strip of double sided tape down the side of the card and sprinkled it with glitter.  Some pearls and a bow, another card done!

I wonder who will say, 'Can you whip up a card quick' this week?

Joy

I'm loving the new thin dies and the trend for popping them into the negative die cut.  I cut this Memory Box Mod Tree from red cardstock and again from Kraft and popped the Kraft tree into the negative space.  The stars are Memory Box Holiday Shapes. I added white letter stickers and some torn card sprinkled with glitter.  There are endless possibilities here - the red tree would look super popped into white card, green would be good - lots of permutations and possibilities for the mass production of Christmas cards ahead!

Singin the blues

Morning all! Hope you are all having a chilled out weekend.  I just love the Hero Arts/Studio Calico Lattice Background. When my Spectrum Noirs arrived I knew I had to try them with this stamp.  The stamp is white embossed and the gaps coloured with shades of blue.  Ombre is a popular technique at the moment and I would like to try other colours to recreate this card in different shades.  It's so easy to do this technique with the Spectrum Noirs, the numbering system makes it so easy to step up the gradient. I added the Marianne Designs die to draw the eye along the gradient and sprayed it with Crafters Companion Spray & Sparkle Silver - hard to see the shimmer in the photo.  The sentiment is computer generated.

Celebrate the Season

Yesterday's clear out unearthed a roll of Micropore or whatever it's called.  I saw it in the chemist's while waiting on a prescription months ago, decided it looked like sticky back canvas and brought it home to bury it deep in my crafty stash.

This morning I stamped Waltzingmouse Stamps Nordic Winter onto it and I thought the texture of the tape brought out the stitch-like quality of the stamps.  So I stuck it down the side of the card. I used the little trees from the set to represent leaves. Sort of. I added glossy accents to give them some shine.

Between School Runs

The plan was, when the schools go back I will get lots of crafting and blogging done.  How could I forget how much clock-watching, paperwork, book-buying and generally running around happens at the start of school/college time?  3 gone back to school and a daughter off to college means very little crafting.  I did make this card for a Hero Arts 90 minute scramble and a mini album for my daughter's friend's 18th but that left the house without a chance to take a photo.

Things are settling down a little now, the paperwork is easing off and the mojo is starting to wake up!  So I hope to be blogging again next week.

Bon Voyage

Morning! Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday and the Olympics.

Still playing with SSS August Card Kit .  I stamped the sun from the clear stamp set onto the pink card stock, drew a little cloud on one of the patterned papers and cut it out adding some white gel pen stitching, added some more patterned paper and the gorgeous little wood bicycle then used the Basic Grey white alphabet stickers to make the sentiment.

Check out what others are making with this kit.

August again

Had some more fun with the SSS August Card Kit.  This is quite a small card, 7cm wide x 10 cm tall.  Using card from the kit I cut the tri-fold shape and added papers, felt flowers and the ric rac ribbon.  The stamp is from the clear set in the kit, white embossed, and the white letters are Basic Grey.  All from the kit!

I added a paper clip, white gel pen and used green card from the kit to punch the file tab using a McGill punch.

August Card Kit

Morning! The August card kit has arrived from Simon Says Stamp so I made this card.  I learned how to make the paper flower at Clean and Simple Online Card Class and I clear embossed one of the felt flowers in the kit and added it to the centre.  I love the chevron stamp in the clear stamp set, so useful!

The only things I needed to add to the kit to make this card were embossing powders and a white gel pen.

Thanks for visiting!
